The method of loci comes from the Latin for "places" and is a technique used for memory enhancement. Using visualisations of familiar spatial environments you are able to enhance the recall of information. The method of loci is also known as the memory journey, memory palace, or mind palace technique and is probably the most versatile mnemonic filing system ever devised. Essentially is a visual filing cabinet, that allows you to memorise and recall a virtually unlimited number of items in a fixed order. Each location serves as a hook, to which you visually connect whatever you want to remember. You accomplish this by creating an image or scene in mind, in which the location and the item you want memorised interact. I really like the idea of a visual filing cabinet in you brain, and I think its a interesting concept for my installation.
