In company with my choice of multiple digital projectors, I also wanted to include a more analog element that linked back to the history of the found footage and also perhaps added another level of interactivity to my installation. After I came across a 1950's vintage slide projector that has a cable trigger, in a charity shop, I thought that the aesthetic and analog sounds could add a really interesting layer that also allows for spectator interactivity. In the 50's, 60's and 70's, at home photographers began to the move away from prints and towards 35mm slides and with that, came the home slide projectors, like mine. After some research into slides, I came across an inordinate amount of slides for sale on eBay. Peoples' once treasured memories of weddings, holidays, birthdays and everything in-between, for sale on eBay. I couldn't help but think how sad this was and who on earth would want to buy them (me).
